ABOUT THE ARTIST
My work is inspired by places I have encountered and the fleeting moments I experienced there. Travel offers temporary destinations, but it is often the transient details—the reflection of light across a lake, the atmosphere at the end of a long hike, or the quiet beauty of a landscape—that remain with me long after I have returned home. Through painting, I seek to preserve these ephemeral experiences and transform them into lasting visual memories.
This exploration of impermanence extends into my still-life work, where everyday objects carry personal meaning. A treasured gift, a collection of gathered objects, or seasonal produce becomes a vehicle for exploring memory, beauty, and the passage of time. What may be temporary in life can become enduring through art.
Expressive mark-making is central to my process. Each brushstroke and pastel mark is both an intuitive response to the subject and a record of the act of painting itself. I embrace the movement, energy, and spontaneity of these marks, allowing them to remain visible as evidence of the artistic journey.
Ultimately, I want my paintings to offer more than a depiction of a place or object. I hope they evoke a sense of connection—to a memory, an experience, or a moment that might otherwise disappear. My work is intended to become part of the viewer’s own environment and story: paintings that invite conversation, awaken memories, and bring a sense of color, energy, and joy into the spaces they inhabit.
